Welcome to Jame Makki Masjid Brampton

Know The Real History of Makki Masjid Brampton

In the early 1980s, approximately 0.8 acres of land on Torbram Road, occupied by nothing more than an old house, was purchased and proposed for the site of Jame Makki Masjid Brampton. In May 1996, additional land towards the south on Torbram Road was acquired.

With limited resources at their disposal, our founding members undertook the ambitious project and looked to the community for support. The Muslims of Brampton and adjacent areas delivered, coming together to provide what support they could. They rallied around those at the forefront of the project to raise funds and contribute in whatever way they could. Alhamdulillah, by the good graces of Allah (SWT) and the support of the community, the project was completed successfully.

Officially opened on March 24, 2000, Jame Makki Masjid Brampton stands tall as a tribute to those who painstakingly strived in the name of Allah (SWT) to see its completion. Today, its brilliant white stones, dome, and minaret have become one of Brampton’s landmark sights and a testament to the Islamic faith. The masjid occupies a total covered area of 2000 square meters, with two floors, a basement, and a separate building for a full-time Islamic school. The masjid basement is home to a multi-purpose hall, kitchen, and mortuary, while the upper floors house a prayer hall, meeting room, offices, as well as designated ladies’ area and classrooms. Recently, in February 2025, the mezzanine floor was completed in the main hall of the masjid.

Dedicated to serving the community, Jame Makki Masjid Brampton (also known as the Islamic Society of Peel (ISP)) provides a myriad of services—religious, educational, and social—to the occupants of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). These services include five daily prayers, Friday prayers, programs for seniors, licensed matrimonial services, weekly halaqah and tafseer, one-on-one Islamic guidance, funeral services, and many more. Among these services is the provision of an elementary school from Kindergarten to Grade 8 (MILC), an Evening Quran School, and Hafiz courses.

We, Insha’Allah, wish to grow and provide the community with much more. Only with the help and blessings of Allah (SWT) and the support of the community we can continue to extend our reach, striving to display the true beautiful nature of our faith.
